Safety is very important in this day and age. People, businesses, and homes all have a reason to keep their belongings and safety safe. Even though there are many security options, hiring unarmed security guards is one of the best ways to make sure everything is safe.

Why unarmed security guards are important for even safety

Security guards who aren't armed are different from those who are by having more thorough training and focusing on nonviolent deterrents. This lets them keep people from committing crimes while putting de-escalation strategies first. Let's look more closely at the specific ways that powerless security guards help keep things safe:

  • Deterrence: Seeing harmless security guards around makes people less likely to commit crimes. Criminals who might do harm know that there are more security measures in place, so they may choose easier targets.
  • Escalation Prevention: Security guards who aren't armed are taught how to calm down situations and solve problems. The fact that they are there can keep normal arguments from turning violent.
  • Customer Service and Awareness: In many places, unarmed security guards are the first people tourists talk to. They are taught to be alert and professional, giving great customer service while being aware of their surroundings and possible security risks.
  • Immediate Response: Unarmed security guards are trained to look at situations and call for help from police or armed security guards when needed, even though they don't carry guns. As a last resort, they can also use physical restraint to hold suspects until help comes.
  • Freedom: Having powerless security guards on site makes everyone feel safe and secure, whether they are working there, living there, or just visiting. This creates an atmosphere that is more calm and useful.
  • Observation Alone Is Not Enough: The Many Duties of Unarmed Security Guards

Guards who aren't armed can do a lot more than just keep an eye on things. They are highly skilled workers with a wide range of abilities:

  • Observation and Awareness: Security guards who aren't armed are taught to be careful watchers who can spot odd behavior and possible threats
  • Communication and Reporting: They report events clearly and keep detailed logs, so there is clear evidence in case the police need to look at it later or get involved.
  • First Aid and CPR: A lot of security guards who aren't carrying guns are trained in first aid and CPR, which means they can give important medical care in an emergency.
  • Building Trust:Since unarmed security guards don't have guns, they can try to seem more friendly. This can be useful when getting to know the people and earning their trust is important.
  • Different Needs for Unarmed Security Guards

Unarmed security guards can be used for a lot of different types of security needs. To give you some examples:

  • Retail Loss Prevention: Shoplifting and other types of theft can be stopped by security guards who aren't armed. Their presence can also help make sure that customers and workers are safe.
  • Property management: Unarmed security guards can walk around apartment buildings, office complexes, and other residential or business properties to keep people safe and discourage crime.?
For schools and universities, having unarmed security guards can help keep the place where students and workers learn safe and secure. They can keep an eye on the hallways and shared areas, stop people from being disruptive, and help in an emergency.
Hospitals and other medical facilities: Security guards who aren't armed can help keep patients, staff, and guests safe in hospitals and other medical facilities. They can keep an eye on the entrances and exits, stop medical tools from being stolen, and deal with disruptive behavior.
  • Event security: Concerts, sports events, and other big gatherings can draw a lot of people, so they need ways to keep them under control. Unarmed security guards can keep things calm, stop disturbances, and help and lead people who are there.
  • How to Choose a Reliable Security Company: Finding the Right Fit

It's important to pick a reputable and qualified company when you need security options. Here are some important things to think about:

  • Insurance and licenses: Make sure that the company and its guards have all the licenses and permits they need to work in your area. Also, liability protection is a must.
  • Training and Experience: Find out what kinds of training the company gives its security guards, especially in how to observe, de-escalate, give first aid, and do CPR. It can be helpful to have worked in similar situations before.
  • Screening and Background Checks: Make sure that the company does full background checks on all of its workers, even unarmed security guards.
  • Customization and contact: Pick a business that can adapt its services to your needs and set up clear lines of contact so that you can voice any concerns effectively.
Even though powerless security guards don't carry guns, they can still be an important part of a well-thought-out security plan and can work with armed guards when needed.
  • Technology and new ideas: making even security better

The security business is always changing, and technology is an important part of both armed and silent security guard services. Here are a few ways that technology is making things safer:

  • Video Surveillance Systems: Modern video surveillance systems let security guards, armed or not, keep an eye on big areas from afar and act quickly if they see anything suspicious.
  • Access Control Systems: Electronic access control systems make it harder for people who aren't supposed to be there to get in. This adds another layer of security. Security guards who aren't armed can keep an eye on these tools and make sure the right steps are taken.
  • Real-time Communication: Security guards, armed or unarmed, can stay in touch with coworkers, managers, and the police through secure communication devices. This lets everyone work together in case of an emergency.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Security companies use data analytics to find patterns and trends in security, which lets them take preventative steps and decide how to use their resources. This can help with the placement of security guards with guns and unarmed security guards.
  • What's Next for SecurityFor the foreseeable future, unarmed security guards will continue to be an important part of keeping people and property safe. As technology changes and new security risks appear, the security industry will adapt and spend money on training, new tools, and creative ways to keep security at the highest level.
  • Why would you want to hire security guards?

Hiring security guards, whether they are armed or not, has many benefits. Here are a few important pros:

  • Enhanced Deterrence: Seeing security guards, both armed and untrained, around makes criminals less likely to do something wrong. Criminals are less likely to go after a place that has security guards.

Better awareness of the situation: security guards, armed and disarmed, are taught to be alert and spot possible threats before they get worse. This kind of strategic thinking can stop problems from happening in the first place.

Security guards, both armed and unarmed, can give employees, residents, and visitors a feeling of security and safety when they know they are present. In turn, this can make the space more calm and useful.
  • That being said Both armed and unarmed security guards are highly trained pros who do important work in the modern world. Unarmed security guards keep people from breaking the law just by being there. They focus on de-escalation techniques and can also help customers and give first aid. When picking a security company, go with ones that have a good reputation, a track record, and a promise to do business in an honest way. You can make sure that your business, home, or event is safe and secure by working with trained security guards who are both armed and unarmed.

    Frequently asked questions

While every company, venue, and industry has its own unique security challenges, most of our clients prefer to hire private security out of necessity. Either they have received specific threats, they need to meet specific fire and/or safety standards, or they need to reduce / prevent theft or other illegal activity. To ensure that our guards are on site and on time, we employ a mobile time clock app with geolocation that requires our guards to be within 100 feet of the assigned post in order to be able to check in. Our guards are required to check in at the start of their shift and then every 30 minutes until their shift is over. In addition to our automated systems, our management team performs site visits on a regular basis.

All of our guards are carefully selected by our management team. To qualify for an interview, a guard must already hold an active Guard Card issued by the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) and at least a year of experience working for a mid- to large-size company. We typically give priority to applicants who also have experience working for law enforcement, the military, or some type of good samaritan program (e.g. a Neighborhood Watch captain), as well as those who went to school for criminal justice or other related field. Finally, before a guard can be hired, we verify their employment history, check personal references, and make sure that they pass background checks and drug testing.
